This composition uses musical techniques that mirror the emotional journey of stress and relief. The fast tempo and loud opening introduce an anxious, unsettling motif, supported by dissonant harmonies and a stress on the second beat to create tension. Rapid harmonic changes enhance the feeling of instability. As the piece progresses, the music slows to a heartbeat-like pace, transitioning into a calming, major key section that offers a sense of relief. Alternating between these tense and calm motifs, the composition builds drama and ultimately resolves with a triumphant reframing of the initial motif, representing the conquest of emotional turmoil.
Listen to my heart
This composition features a calming tempo of 80 beats per minute, closely aligned with the human heartbeat, promoting relaxation. It begins softly, introducing a minimalist first motif that offers respite from the complexities of daily life. The gentle, repeating bassline instills stability and a meditative quality, while the second motif incorporates repeated notes to enhance this calming effect. A shift to a major key introduces a happier mood. As the first motif returns, the bassline transitions from semi-quavers to triplets, creating a sense of expansion and soothing space. The piece concludes with two long chords, allowing the audience to breathe and reflect.
